2020 Autumn Winter Trends

Posted on 16/03/2020

Barney and the Team had a good old fashioned catch up to get to the bottom of the trends to watch out for for this season.

Two tone 90’s inspired hair. Spotted in an extreme version on Dua Lipa, also seen on those in the know at the fashion weeks – attached example from London fashion week and Dries Van Noten Paris show by Sam McKnight.

We are witnessing stronger shapes with blunt ends, the bob is going nowhere this season and will still remain a prominent trend. My favourites are those with middle parts and a strong outline. You will need a great haircut to start off with and will need to visit your stylist every 6 – 8 weeks to maintain the shape and outline which is critical to make this look work.

The return of fringes in all varieties, much easier to manage in the cooler, less humid months and instantly gives an air of je ne sais quoi. You can see these everywhere, from the heavily layered traditionally quite feminine Stevie Nicks inspired to sharp, angular masculine mod inspired. Give your fringe a cool blast with your dryer and embrace dry shampoo, this is an awesome (and almost instant) way to revitalise your style.

Plaits please. Anything goes and we can see tiny delicate braids being introduced into polished pony tails or chunky plaits into updo’s. Plaits are having a moment and can take what could be an everyday look into something with a bit more excitement.
